Rothiemurchus Estate

Set at the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, the Rothiemurchus estate offers stunning scenery and a huge range of outdoor activities. Rothiemurchus stretches from the River Spey to the summit of Braeriach, Britain's third highest mountain at over 4,000 feet. In between is one of the largest remaining areas of Ancient Caledonian Forest. A wide range of habitats provide a home for many rare species, including Capercaillie, Pine Marten and the dainty Twinflower. Loch an Eilein

Winner of best UK picnic site, the haunting Loch an Eilein is situated on the Rothiemurchus Estate, not far from the hotel, around three miles south of Aviemore.

Meaning 'Loch of the Island’, Loch an Eilein is just one of a series of beautiful lochs in the area, and is renowned as a former hideaway of Rob Roy MacGregor and other hordes of cattle rustlers in the 18th and 19th centuries. Guests can cycle to Loch an Eilein from the Hilton Coylumbridge hotel, or take the short drive through the gorgeous Cairngorms countryside.

Cairngorm Reindeer centre

Be sure to make time to visit the Cairngorm Reindeer Centre. Situated around ten minutes’ drive from Aviemore - Scotland's premier year-round resort – the Cairngorm Reindeer Centre is home to Britain's only herd of reindeer, which are to be found ranging free near picturesque Loch Morlich in the glorious Glenlivet Estate and the Cairngorm Mountains.

Cairngorm Mountain

Cairngorm Mountain is Britain’s sixth highest mountain and lies nine miles east of Aviemore, in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park. Take the mountain railway in safety and comfort up to the Top Station, 1097 metres above sea level. Here you will find an outdoor viewing terrace, an exhibition about the wildlife, history, climate and ecology of the Cairngorms, the Ptarmigan restaurant and a gift shop. Alternatively, walk up to the top from the Base Station and relax on the train coming down, enjoying the spectacular scenery as you descend.

RSPB Ospreys

Take time during your visit to the Hilton Coylumbridge hotel to visit the beautiful Loch Garten and the ancient Caledonian pine forest that’s home to Scotland’s resurgent osprey population. The Loch Garten Osprey Centre provides fantastic views of these magnificent birds on the nest, as well as close up views through non-invasive CCTV camera.

The reserve is home to some excellent walks, with the chance to see red squirrels, dragonflies and crested tits. Early in spring, visitors may be lucky enough to see the spectacular display of the capercaillie, Scotland’s largest grouse.
