12 Hours in Aviemore

If you had 12 hours to explore Aviemore with your family, what would you do? We’ve made a 12-hour itinerary of our perfect day in the town.

9:00am

Start your day of adventures off with our buffet breakfast at Hilton Coylumbridge. We offer a huge range of hot and cold food including Scottish favourites, such as Stornoway black pudding and haggis, as well as waffles, pancakes and pastries. Prefer something healthy? We’ve got fruit, porridge, and fresh market fish.

Next stop is at Rothiemurchus, an expansive estate set on acres of stunning landscaped gardens with activities for all ages. Take a guided tour to see the wildlife in their natural habitat, including the “Hairy Helian Coos” and red deer. Don’t miss the Estate Farm Shop, which sells a great range of fresh, local produce. Choose from delicious sweets and cakes including homemade fudge, as well as a range of cheeses, meats and wines.

It’s time to ride the Funicular Railway to the top of the Cairngorm Mountain. Take in beautiful views from the Top Station, which is over 1,000ft high, and discover an exhibition about the mountain’s history. Feeling peckish? Stop by the Ptarmigan Restaurant for lunch and more breathtaking views.

Now, let’s hit the shops - Aviemore has a great range. If you’re into snowsports, you’ll find plenty of outdoor clothing shops. Then maybe you’d like a quarter of your favourite sweeties from the traditional sweetie shop or, some authentic Scottish shortbread.

Back at the hotel, let the kids play at our indoor Fun House. It’s great for kids of all ages, with a soft play, games room, crazy golf and a mini bowling alley.

After all the excitement, you’ll be ready for dinner at our Inverdruie Restaurant. Let our talented chefs cook up a delicious meal using only the finest, locally sourced ingredients. Featuring a fusion of Scottish and Italian cooking, our menu has something for everyone, including, freshly made pizzas and fresh fish dishes.
