GB Rollerski Championship in Aviemore - 18 June 2016
Aviemore and the Cairngorms, with its beautiful, rugged landscape and mountainous backdrop, is the perfect setting for a wide variety of sporting activities. But if you fancy seeing something a bit different; the GB Rollerski Championship on 18 June 2016 will provide just that.
What is Roller Skiiing?
Roller skiing is essentially the cross-country – or Nordic – version of skiing but on wheels and without snow, which means it can be done pretty much anywhere. The sport offers such an intense workout, burning up to 500 calories per hour, that the British Army adopted roller skiing to build up soldiers’ endurance levels!
The GB Rollerski championship will take place at the purpose-built Olympic Biathlon Training Centre, Glenmore Lodge, which is located in Aviemore in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park. Race times are as follows:
10-Lap Time Trial - 10am at Glenmore Lodge
Cairngorm Hill Race - 4.30pm at the Hayfield
