A Guide to Activities Within Walking Distance of the Hotel

Posted by Hilton Coylumbridge, September, 2014

Although Hilton Coylumbridge in Aviemore is set in the most beautiful National Park surroundings that you’ll probably want to explore, there are also plenty of fun to be had on the hotel grounds just a short walk away. Especially if you’re travelling with small children you’ll be happy to know that you don’t have to go far for some family fun.

Keep reading for a quick breakdown of the extensive range of resort activities within walking distance of the hotel.

The Fun House

This exciting entertainment complex is open 7 days a week and guaranteed to keep your kids busy for hours, allowing you to sit down and relax for a while – unless you want to join in on some of the fun of course! There is also demand-led two hour supervised play sessions for over 5-year olds that are available to book for hotel residents.

The Fun House features Cyril’s Treehouse, a massive soft play tree house with a maze of slides and tunnels set over 3 floors. If you can manage to drag your little ones away from the treehouse, there is more fun in store. 10-pin bowlingo, mini golf and a games room with driving simulators will keep the children occupied for another good while. After an exciting play session the American Diner is just what you need to refuel.

Outdoor Discovery Centre

This place is full of action-packed activities that will get your heart racing – and it’s right next to the hotel. The super jumper trampolines and one of the newest attractions, Big Air, will help you reach new heights – 14 meters to be exact. There are also 4 different grades of climbing walls for different levels, a skater park and rink and mountain bikes for hire.

If you want to ski all year round there’s a dry ski slope where you can practise your moves before you hit the real slopes. This is a great place for a work or school day out, a hen or stag do, a birthday party or team building sessions. Read more about the Outdoor Discovery Centre.

Outdoor Leisure

If you’re into more traditional activities like walking and cycling, don’t fear, there are plenty of opportunities to practise these sports at the resort too. If tennis is what floats your boat, we’ve got two full-sized fenced courts and tennis equipment available for hire. Next to the courts we have an adventure playground the kids will love.

As Hilton Coylumbridge is surrounded by nature you should definitely take advantage of it and go for a walk or a cycle ride on one of the paths close to the hotel and just take in the beautiful scenery and fresh Scottish Highland air.

If you and your children like the occasional swim we’ve got that covered too with our indoor family pool with a slide. There’s also a toddler’s pool for the little ones as well as a relaxing sauna and hydrotherapy pool. The swimming pools are also open to non-residents.

Woodshed Bar

After a day full of activities the Woodshed cabin bar located just a short walk from the main building is where you want to be. How good doesn’t a roaring log fire and a local Cairngorm ale or a special Woodshed cocktail sound? There’s also regular entertainment, such as live music, as well as a cosy outside sitting area.

Thai Lodge Spa

In one of our lodges you’ll find a relaxing and serene spa where you can forget about the rest of the world and release stress and tension with one of our exciting massages or facials. We also have new beauty treatments available, such as waxing, eyelash tinting, manicures and pedicures. If you’re planning on visiting us soon, you can book an appointment on 01479 813088. Read more about the spa and download the spa brochure here.
