The Perfect Picnic by Hilton Coylumbridge

Posted by Hilton Coylumbridge, July, 2016

With dinner and breakfast included for most of our guests at Hilton Coylumbridge, a lunchtime picnic could be just the ticket to keep you going in between. So here are some tips to ensure you enjoy an al fresco feast you’ll never forget.

Location, Location, Location

Finding the perfect spot is so important when planning the perfect picnic and in Aviemore, we really are spoilt for choice.

Loch an Eilein

Loch An Eilein

Once voted the UK’s favourite picnic spot, Loch an Eilein is a hidden gem within the Rothiemurchus Estate at the foot of the Cairngorm Mountains. The spectacular castle ruins in the centre of the loch provide the perfect view.

Loch Morlich beach

Loch Morlich Beach

Prefer some sand at your feet? You’ll find few better locations than Loch Morlich. The beach was recently voted one of the best in Scotland, receiving the ‘Excellent’ award by the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA).

Picnic Indoors

Believe it or not, it can be just as much fun having an indoor picnic. Why not roll out your picnic blanket in your cozy Hilton guest room while you watch a movie?

Ideas for Fun

Picnic basket and bike

After the picnic, why not enjoy a fun game with the kids – and perhaps burn off those extra calories.

  • Go a walk or bike ride – you’ll find a wide choice of routes nearby
  • Feed the ducks
  • Create a treasure hunt
  • Blanket volleyball – turn your picnic blanket into a net!

Here’s hoping the sun stays shining! If you need any more advice, don’t forget our knowledgeable staff are always happy to help. For the latest deals at Hilton Coylumbridge, check out our special offers page.
