Skiing in Aviemore

Cross-country skiing

Cross-country skiing in the Aviemore area is an incredible way to fully appreciate your scenic surroundings. The Aviemore School of Snowsports provides expert tuition for groups of four or more in cross-country skiing. If you’re a keen skier and want to try something new, this is a great way to keep fit and appreciate another side of snowsports.

Family Skiing

If you’ve got young children who haven’t been skiing before, the School of Snowsports is located on the hotel grounds to provide lessons on the dry ski slope before trying out the real thing. Skiing Lessons

Skiing lessons in Aviemore are a popular activity with our guests. With a dry ski slope within the resort and easy access to the Cairngorm slopes, you can learn from fully qualified instructors at the Aviemore School of Snowsports. From excited young children to nervous adults, the skiing lessons will be tailored according to your age and ability. Lessons for kids can be a great way to boost their overall confidence as well as improving their coordination.

All the ski instructors are first aid trained for your peace of mind.

Dry Ski Slope

Our Aviemore resort has its own dry ski slope – perfect for when you and your family want to try something new on holiday. You can hire all the equipment you need and get professional tuition from fully qualified ski instructors. If you don’t want to ski, there’s also boarding and ringoes available which are always popular with kids. If you’re a casual skier who doesn’t want to take to the nearby Cairngorms, the dry slope provides the opportunity to brush up on your skills and have a bit of fun during your stay.

Snowboarding Scotland

People come from all over Scotland and beyond to experience snowboarding in Aviemore. You can hire your snowboarding equipment from the resort before catching the bus from right outside the hotel.

Sledging for the Whole Family

Sledging is one of the most popular activities in Aviemore during the snowy season – and it’s not just the kids who enjoy it!

Whatever your age, sledging is a fun-filled activity that you can enjoy for just £6 per day! What’s more, compared to other snow sport activities, sledging is much easier to get started at when you have no prior experience. After your first few attempts, you’ll be whizzing around with the best of them!

Top Tips for Snowsports

  • We highly recommend that all equipment is pre-booked well in advance.
  • Keep your equipment safe in our Ski & Board Store – located in the hotel grounds.
  • Arrive early on the slopes to avoid the rush, especially if taking the car.
  • Take the bus – it’s the easiest way to the slopes with pick-up at the hotel entrance (timetable applies).
  • Check the mountain conditions – visit or view the next-day forecast display at the leisure desk.
  • Buy your ski passes from the leisure desk in advance to avoid the queues.

Ride to the Top

Ride the funicular to the top of the slopes. Passes can be purchased from the Leisure Desk in the hotel foyer. The Cairngorm Mountain has an electronic ticketing system, which means you won’t have to queue for your tickets if bought in advance.
